Suzanne (Roberts) Brinker

August 23, 1948 - April 20, 2023

Suzanne Brinker was born in Houston on the 23rd of August in the summer of 1948. She passed away peacefully on April 20, 2023 in Brenham, Texas.

Growing up in South Houston, Texas she recalled today’s grid of Avenues as open fields of prairie. Born in the late 1940’s, growing up in the 1950’s, high school and college in the 1960’s, and career and marriage in the 1970’s. She lived through these iconic decades with absolute style, commonly in chic outfits she sewed herself.

The 1980’s would usher in her favorite chapter of her life: motherhood. In the same neighborhood she lived as a child, she welcomed three children. The years that would follow she later described as her greatest joy and her biggest dream fulfilled – she loved being a mother.

Her legacy lives on in her children - all three so individual, while unmistakably sharing their mother’s clever personality, imagination and thoughtful nature. Adam, a Pilot and Aviation Specialist; Mark, a retired Police Officer and multi business owner, both married, raising children, and living in New Braunfels, Texas; and Beth, a writer and Creative Director, living in Nashville, TN.

Gifted with boundless creativity, Suzanne was known for her ability to make anything and everything. Unfailingly, the result would be effortlessly beautiful, just as she was.

Among her most renowned talents was her singing voice, which she first debuted in church with her rendition of the hymn In The Garden. White attending Southwestern Assemblies of God Bible College, she sang in a sign language choir, sharing her gift in churches across the country. Upon her graduation, she returned to Houston to continue her studies in Elementary Education at The University of Houston.

Her career inherently followed her passion for education and her love of children – she worked as a Montessori teacher, a daycare director, a teacher’s aide, and eventually a professional nanny.

Having spent most of her life in Pasadena, she relocated to Brenham, Texas after her children were grown. There, her pleasures were simple. She loved cooking, spending time with her neighbors, watching hummingbirds and deer outside of her window and her greatest passion - crafting. Sewing, crocheting, painting, floral design, you name it – there was nothing she couldn’t make beautiful.

Suzanne was steadfast in her faith and loved the Lord. Her generosity and open-hearted approach to life and everyone she met was the purest form of God’s love working through her. She made everyone feel special and seen. She especially loved the fellowship she found in the Cowboy Church of Brenham.

Her selflessness, unassuming beauty, quick wit, infectious smile and her ability to give selflessly of her time, her gifts and her love were her hallmarks and how she will be remembered.

Devoted mother of Adam Brinker and his wife Brandi of New Braunfels, TX, Mark Brinker and his wife Brandi of New Braunfels, TX, and Beth Brinker of Nashville, TN; loving Mammaw to granddaughters Aubrey, Baylee and Paislee; also survived by her brother John, brother-in-law Doug Jeter, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins.
